Much of the seafood we serve in our restaurants is supplied by the original Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd. company, located at the head of Loch Fyne in Argyll, Scotland. The company has been supplying customers worldwide with the best in authentic Scottish seafood products for 40 years, and we are proud of the strong supplier - customer relationship we have developed during our working relationship. Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd. supplies our restaurants with the best of Scotland’s seafood larder, including not just oysters, but also award winning smoked salmon, mussels, langoustines, and smoked haddock – a firm favourite with our customers.
This major supplier has enjoyed a great year in 2018, including notching up a trio of awards at two major ceremonies in Scotland. The awards made at these events recognise innovation, enterprise and quality amongst the best food and drink producers in Scotland.
The company’s Bradan Orach smoked salmon took top prize in the Fish and Seafood category at Scotland’s prestigious Food and Drink Awards, which took place in Edinburgh in June. This is one of the most coveted prizes awarded in the food and drink sector each year. Meaning “golden salmon”, Bradan Orach is cold smoked for longer than other smoked salmon products - up to 24 hours - which results in a fuller, richer flavour. We are pleased to feature Bradan Orach in our autumn menu, so be sure to try it on your next visit – you will not be disappointed!
Later in 2018 Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd. went on to win another two major awards at the Scottish Highland & Islands Food & Drink Awards, namely Best Exporting Company, and Sustainability Awards. The export award recognised the company’s success in establishing export markets all over the world. We are delighted that products supplied to us by Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd. are also served in some of the world’s most famous hotels and restaurants, in places such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai (and our restaurants are easier to get to!).
The sustainability award gained in 2018 was awarded in recognition of the company’s commitment to minimise the impact on the environment associated with its business activities. This award comes on top of another award received In 2017, when Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd. was recognised as the first blue mussel producer in the world to receive certification against the ASC bivalve standard, awarded by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council. Managing Director of Loch Fyne Oysters, Cameron Brown said, “The ASC award recognised the company’s dedication and hard work to provide ethically grown and environmentally friendly mussels to our friends at Loch Fyne Restaurants and our other valued customers around the globe. Knowing that we have ASC accreditation, customers have confidence that they are purchasing the best mussels, harvested under the best practices.”
Mussels are certainly a firm favourite in our restaurants – evidenced by the fact that each year we serve around 100 tons of them to our customers!
